Shortly after establishing the safe haven of Santuary, Founders Katrina and her husband Joshua create an memorial of the males who died in the X- Y Experiment plague that ravaged the world. They also implement a day of remembrance of the fallen in the middle of May .
Katrina and Joshua hired an artist and engraver of stone to write the inscription:
In remembrance of lost men the X-Y Experiment Plague with the Psalms 23 verse.
