Untouched Land

I  enlisted  the U.S Armed Forces to help in  the battle against the armies of Mars  Corporation that oppressed their Earth neighbors.My name is Captain Mason Evers ,in  the  sixth year of the war I found myself trapped with my enemy on an untouched land

I heard stories from my grandfather who is a  archelogist about a pristine land where no humans ever inhabited. He told me that explorers visit the place but never return including creatures extinct for centuries.I thought my  grandfather lost his mind.

When I first saw a brontosaurus,I mentally dismissed it as hallucinations, however,my Martian military enemy saw the same thing. I have  a  secret respect for my adversary , ,because he has a reputation of honesty and has a sound mind.

The adolescent brontosaurus approached us cautiously without any signs of malice  exhibiting kneen intelligence.

I felt fear and excitement at the same time seeing a living dinosaur  long extinct.

Mirrors Through Time

The Treasures of Delight Antique Store  celebrates their  100th anniversary on August 17,2326  a free historical event that chronicles the history of  the store . Keisha Owens inherited the business after the death of  her mother Tasha Owens.She received three mirrors that passed down through the maternal line.

Keisha opens the Treasures of Delight Antique Store at 8:00 am to prepare for the yearly anniversary of its beginning. She posts schedules of events that  include Victorian tea,  poetry  reading and history lessons on bulletin boards that are  visible to  the customers.

Keisha also created creative writing ,science-fiction, historical and poetry groups for writers of all skill levels.

Mirror of the Future

Kyle Storms  works as an antiquarian and possesses expertise in antiques. He also owns a shop called  Strange and the Unusual that specializes in  rare and unique antiques. One afternoon after the new year , Kyle receives a mysterious mirror with no reflection that puzzles him prompting him to examine it . 

Suddenly, he traveled 24 hours in the future to discover that he was in a  downtown bookstore. Out of curiosity,Kyle explored his new  location  feeling at an unexplained connection to it. He felt compelled to go  upstairs where he  found the mirror beside the red velvet chair. Kyle senses another presence in the bookstore with him prompting him to touch it.He returns to his shop 24 hours later.

“Where , am I at thinking to himself?” Kyle in his  confused state lost his ability  to hear his colleague Cynthia calling his name. He recognized her ,but she seems  physically  distant to him.

“Kyle! “What is the matter with you? Cynthia asked  in  a  concerned tone of voice. “You missed a full day of work”.”Where have you been”

“I have been at Strange and The Unusual all day.”said Kyle unwilling to reveal his time -travel adventure.

“I did not see you “”I  worked at a shop  from 10:00am to 7:00pm.” I tried to text and call you about the a strange occurrence surrounding the mirror.”

“What happened?” “Anything out of the ordinary”? saidKyle

“At 2:00pm,One of our regulars visited the store ; asked if we had a  mirror made before the twentieth century.””I showed him  a gold frame  with no reflection.”‘I thought his request felt odd because he normally buys collectibles and shows no interest in mirrors.”

Beam of Light

My name is Leticia Niver ,I live in a  landlocked town called Lightlake. Every Night since Resurrection Sunday ,I encountered a beam of light that passes my window lighting up in a dark room.  I called the local   independent energy company to check out  my home for any sight of intruders. A middle -age gentleman introduced himself  as Hosea  who arrived  with two assistants with him. Hosea the leader came the next day at  sundown to observe the light beam. He advised  the gentleman to conduct an energy experiment and examine any signs of forced entry.

“Miss Niver , we encountered no intruders at your residence during the light show.”We measure the beam of light discovered  it came from  a distant lighthouse”.

“How is it possible, our town is landlocked without any large body of water?.” Lightllakes havecreeks and small rivers.

Miss Niver”I think it is a natural amornality,or a freak of nature.

Nanotech World

In the year of Our Lord January 23, 3026, humanity gained biological immortality with the use of nanotech. Dr.Renee Smiths using nanomedicine developed the cure  for cancer  one of the world’s most deadly killers. She invented the method of injecting nanomaterial into infants at birth until  preschool age of three years.She also eradicated childhood diseases such as measles, chicken pox, mumps etc.People stopped dying of infectious illness and cancer for several centuries.

Humanity started to colonize the Milky Way solar system and terra forming all  eight planets including dwarf one of Pluto. Dr..Renee Smiths is considered the oldest living human. Her contemporaries utilize nanotech for alternative energy of Solar. Dr.Smiths is currently  three hundred years old without any age-related illness or mental disabilities. She mentors new students studying nanotechnology.Dr.Smiths retired from her practice  of nano medicine 150 years after curing cancer and other infectious diseases.

She groomed protege Ambrose  as her successor and continued her work  in nanotech and medicine.

The Vintage Carousel

A full moon descends on Earth triggering a mysterious event at the local city park involving a vintage carousel.I  worked as a caretaker where I witnessed  carousel activating without any human interference.

Out of curiosity,I decided to investigate if there  was a  mechanism that a person can operate by remote control. I  approach the  vintage carousel taking photos of it with a scientific grade camera. Then observe the activities surrounding the carousel , but I saw no signs of human visitation of the area. 

An extra horse suddenly appears that no one saw before. The carousel comes alive as if it gained sentience. The mysterious horse senses my presence and smiles at me.

The horse on the carousel speaks to me  in a audible voice  revealing  knowledge about me that no one but my immediate family members.

“My name is Lacy, you rode on me when you were six -year old”said the horse.

“That is impossible for you to speak, because, you are not a living being” “You are made of plastic, steel, and wooden!

Lacy, the horse grows defensive changing her tone from friendly to angry.”How dare you suggest ,I am a non-living thing!”

The Vintage Carousel decreased its velocity and put on some soothing music to calm down Lacy “.Xaxier met no harm .”He has no idea about our creation  by Dr.Jonah Wellware, who is a mad scientist and inventor.”

Xavier cringes when he hears Dr.Jonah Wellware,s name bringing him some painful memories of being  used as a lab rat as a college student for a  biological enhancement experiment..Xavier almost died because his immune system rejected the injection by the mad scientist. Xavier’s personality from an outgoing and sociable person to an introvert.

Lacy expresses empathy and understanding  when  Xavier revealed to her he participated  in Dr.Wellware,s  experiment as a college  student . It altered  his brain chemistry triggering  his natural personality from extrovert to introvert.  Xavier noticed the changes  within weeks of  his participation when he felt uneasy going to  an upscale gathering with unfamiliar people.He prefers being alone with a  small group of family and friends instead of large crowds.  He gained natural talent for photography and other forms of the arts .

“Xavier,I recall listening to your stories  when you first rode on me as a six -year old boy.”

“Do you gain sentience before you meet me?” Xavier suspects that Lacy exhibits a conscious mind that became  dormant for years.

“I have always had sentience since my creation.

Message From Exoplanet

Dr.Marsha Wells ; archeologist and geneticist discovered a mysterious message in a  language non-existent on Earth. She uses her decoding machine that translates alien communication into English.Dr.Wells laugh and smile with relief this is  no threat of war noticing  an attachment prompting her to open it.  She discovered the job application for  intergalactic  communication, and translator for Queen  Alisha of the city Womanland . She also revealed that her society  lacks genetic diversity because their reproductive cloning  technology started to malfunction.

Queen Alisha lives in a terraform exoplanet Giselle  where women dominate in leadership and population.  The females in Womanland trace their lineage  matrilineality with  a matriarchal governmental structure.  In the beginning men had leadership roles the community.

Womanland developed as a social experiment  by mostly female colonists fleeing an  oppressive regime where they are second class citizens with little or no rights. The few older men who supported the women’s flight suffered the  consequences of exile and stripping of their citizenship in Redwood.

Womanland represented a fresh  start for the women forced to flee their homeland.  They formed the matriarchy out of survival ,because there were  shortages of male capable of leadership and most  of them were under 25 year-olds.

End of Electricity

Jessica Stanley, a college student in graduate school for  her doctorate in Environmental & Alternate Energy  specializing in Solar Energy  .On Monday January 19, 2125, Jessica’s electricity went out and her appliances stopped working. At first she thought it was a temporary situation that her electric company will  fix it. Jessica discovered spoiled food in her refrigerator and freezer throwing it out. She dialed the customer  service phone number for Andes Electric Company.

“Hello,  My name is Sasha.”May I assist you? asking in a gentle voice.

“My electricity went off a  two ago?” The only thing that is working is my phone ,because it is solar powered.

“I can transfer you to an electricity tech person Zach if that is okay with you .”

“That’s fine, that’s no problem”. Zach accepted the transfered .

Hello”Miss Stanley,”I am Zach”What is the problem?”

“My electricity went off  two days ago””I had  to throw away most of  my refrigerated food.

The Disappearing Star

On Friday the 13, 2326, I went a sky exploration trip to Greenland and begining my journey in exploring the areas of the nation.I am an amateur astronomer college student going for a doctorate in astronomy.My professor Dr.Kyle Rivers give me an assignment to explore and discover stars never charted.
As I set- up my telescope and gear, I suddenly saw a new star that appeared ina mostly unhabited winderess. The star,s unusual brightness caught my attention then vanish and reappear less than ten minutes later. The Vanishing One blinked an coded sequence 2346 in Morse code. After taking photos before and after the star disappearing act;I reached out Dr. Rivers.I asked him to verify it. Fortunately, He responded to me by texting me giving me instructions.

“Meet me at Greenland Science Obersvatory in a hour” Bring your camera and I will develop the photos for you.

I texted Dr.Rivers back”I am only less the hour away from Greenland Science Obersvatory.I packed my telescope alongside my astronomy supplies then left the windresss.

Twenty minutes later, I arrived at my destination. .The Greenland Science Observatory resembles ancient Greenland archtiecture with a igloo shaped dome. I recognize the doorman Daryl whom I went to college with. He smiled when he saw me .

In the professional tone he said to me”Welcome, to Greenland Science Observatory”I have the photo room ready for Dr.Rivers and you leading to me to it .

Mysterious Fog

Alesha reads the newspaper with her Strawberry Intergalactic Latte in her hand.She sees the title People Are Mysteriously Disappears in the fog.The writer mentions there is no evidence of foul play , but almost all people of Woodlands vanished.The Woodlands detective and police responds to claims and concerns the family and friends of the vanished. The reporter recorded the list  of the missing . Alesha recognized one of the individuals on the list as her  younger brother Ezra Williamson.

She just saw her brother  Erza just early afternoon before he went to work . She dropped her cup and broke. Alesha’s husband  Loniel heard the sound from the kitchen and  rushed to check up on her.

“What happened ?” He saw the cup in pieces in front of Alesha checking for any signs of cuts .

“I dropped it while reading the newspaper. She  told her  husband about the front article that reported on the mysterious disappearance of  people in the city of Woodlands in  the fog handed the title page

“Look at the fifth name on the list”.You will recognize it”.Loniel  looked and his expression changed as he saw his brother -in -law name.

“We need to search for him , because, he would never disappear without telling us.”

“We cannot now””It is too foggy and  dark to see anything looking at the window.

The next morning Alesha and Loniel went on a search and rescue mission.  They entered into foggy weather unsafe for driving so they walked throughout the neighborhood. The fogginess hindered Alesha’s and Loniel’s ability to see, however, they brought on a flashlight that cut through it.  Alesha saw an open cafe sign that reads Cassandra’s Chophouse and Coffee Shop.

Unseen by the couple, Erza in the fog whispered the name Alesha. He walked in dazed state mentally confused , but able to recognize his sister in the distance. Erza recall leaving work when he encounter an mysterious spiritual being that beckoned him towards the town center.
